Mr. Muhammad Owais joined the University of Management and Technology in August 2013 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Sciences, SSS&H now it is Department of Political Science. Mr. Owais also worked as the Chairperson of the Department for nine months (Aug 2015-April 2016). He is also the Program Manager/Advisor for MPhil Political Science. He is also supervising MPhil thesis of four students of first batch (may be completing their MPhil degrees in Spring 2016), one had already successfully defended his MPhil thesis under Mr. Owais while he was also Co-Supervisor of first three students of the Department of Political Science who had completed their degrees. He also has the honour of organizing a study visit for the undergraduate students of the Department to Islamabad (Parliament, Quaid-e-Azam University, Institute of Regional Studies, meeting with HEC Chairman, etc). He has overall teaching/research experience of almost 12 years.
Mr. Owais has currently submitted his PhD Dissertation for review process in the University of Karachi. He has done his MPhil and Masters in International Relations from the Department of International Relations, University of Karachi. His PhD Dissertation title is "Afghanistan-India Relations: Implications for Pakistan". Mr. Owais had previously worked at Institute of Business Administration, Karachi as Research Associate (January 2009-July 2013) where he coordinated with his PhD Supervisor Dr. Talat Wizarat in publishing book "Middle East in a Globalized World: Some Core Issues" and worked on project Vision 2030 (A joint study of PBJF and IBA) , Cooperative Lecturer at the Department of International Relations, University of Karachi (January 2008-December 2008) where he also supervised M.A. (final year) thesis of thirteen students, Research/Teaching Assistant in IBA, Karachi (September 2007-December 2007) and Lecturer at Bahria Foundation College (September 2004-August 2007). He was also awarded "Appreciation Certificate" for outstanding results in Cambridge and Board Exams at the Bahria College for two consecutive years i.e. 2005 and 2006.
Mr. Owais had presented his research in numerous national/international conferences in Pakistan and other countries like USA, South Korea, Macedonia, Spain virtually mostly on research papers related to Afghanistan and Security of Afghanistan and the Region. He also attended numerous training workshops in Pakistan (Karachi, Sargodha, Peshawar) and once in New Delhi, India (Ninth Annual Wiscomp Conflict Transformation Workshop). He also has experience of organizing conferences, twice as team member for the Department of International Relations, University of Karachi, twice as the Conference Organizer i.e. once at IBA, Karachi and once at UMT, Lahore.
Mr. Owais also has published his research paper on Pakistan-Russia Relations with Pakistan Horizon and two papers are under the review process for publication in HEC Y-Category Journals. He is also in the process of submitting his research papers in reputed national/international journals.
