Assistant Professor Dr Syedah Sadia Kazmi (focal person SSSH-AHC) played an instrumental role in organizing two-day seminar on harassment awareness and an MoU signed between UMT and Mehergarh: A Center for Learning, Islamabad

School of Social Sciences and Humanities at UMT in collaboration with Anti-Harassment Committee at UMT organized two days seminar on creating an awareness about harassment at work places. Assistant Professor at Department of Political Science and IR Dr. Syedah Sadia Kazmi as School’s focal person for Anti-harassment Committee was instrumental in organizing and conducting the seminar. 

On June 19, 2026, Executive Director Mehergarh Ms. Maliha Husain enlightened the faculty and students over the theme entitled "Building a Safe, Respectful and Inclusive Campus: Understanding, Preventing and Responding to Harassment." 

On June 20, 2026, Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan and Chairperson Legal Education Committee Punjab Bar Council Ms. Sumaira Hussain had a session with MPhil and Ph.D. students along with faculty on a theme entitled "Promoting a Culture of Respect: Moral, Ethical, and Harassment Free Conduct in Educational Institutions."

Later, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between The University of Management and Technology (UMT) and Mehergarh: A Centre for Learning, Islamabad.

Vice Rector Academics UMT Prof. Dr. Ejaz Allah Cheema, Prof. Dr. Nauman Khalid (Convener, Anti-Harassment Committee (AHC)/Dean School of Food and Agricultural Sciences (SFAS)), Prof. Dr. Yasira Waqar (Dean School of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSSH) and Ms. Yasmin Zohaib (Secretary, Anti-harassment Committee/Manager Academic, SSSH Dean's Office) were present at the occasion. Dr. Syedah Sadia Kazmi was instrumental in developing this liaison.

The MoU marks the beginning of a collaborative partnership aimed at promoting awareness, research, training, capacity building, and policy dialogue on issues related to human rights, gender equality, harassment prevention, workplace dignity, and social inclusion. This partnership is expected to facilitate more structured and meaningful engagement between the two institutions through joint academic activities, awareness initiatives, workshops, and future collaborative projects.
