The Qualitative Debate: Philosophical Foundations, Planning and Designing, Data Collection and Analysis May, 2023
Tuesday, July 25, 2023The Department organized a scholarly qualitative debate on philosophical foundations, planning and designing, data collection, and analysis dated 25th May 2023 at Hakim Saeed Hall. It was facilitated by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Usman, Professor of Sociology at the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies, University of the Punjab Lahore. The overall scholarly directions for this session included: a) how the philosophical underpinnings in qualitative research shape its planning, data collection and analysis approaches?, b) Is subjectivity as a central component of qualitative research practice, a challenge or an opportunity for the researchers? And c) how to ensure rigor and trustworthiness in qualitative research while acknowledging subjectivity?
