Dr. Shahid Siddiqui obtained his Ph.D. in Language Education from University of Toronto, Canada and M.Ed. TESOL from University of Manchester, U.K. He has been involved with Educational system of Pakistan in various capacities, i.e., as a teacher, teacher educator, and researcher.
Dr. Siddiqui has worked in prestigious universities such as the Aga Khan University, GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). Currently he is working as a Professor and Director of Centre for Humanities and Social Sciences in Lahore School of Economics. His areas of interest include socio-cultural aspects of language, educational change, and critical pedagogy.
His book, Rethinking Education in Pakistan: Perceptions, Practices, and Possibilities, has recently come on the market. Currently he is working on his book, Language, Gender, and Power: Politics of hegemony and control in South Asia. He regularly writes on educational issues for the national daily Dawn. |
