Dr Shafiq Qurban is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations, University of Management and Technology, Lahore. He has earned a PhD in Political Science from International Islamic University, Islamabad. For PhD research, Dr Qurban focused on the role of education policy in the construction of Neo-Liberal Citizenship in Pakistan and explored the impact of changing discourses of curricula in the construction of Pakistani citizenship. He argued that the Musharraf government's education sector reform aimed to make the curriculum compatible with global trends of education to construct Pakistani citizenship within the context of Neo-Liberal Citizenship.
After earning his PhD, Dr. Qurban has held various academic positions, including Assistant Professor (Visiting) at the department of Governance and Public Policy, National University of Modern Languages Islamabad, Assistant Professor in the Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Sialkot, Sialkot, and Assistant Professor at the School of Integrated Social Science, University of Lahore, Lahore. He has also taught courses such as Introduction to Public Policy, Public Policy Analysis, Political and Constitutional Development in Pakistan, International Law, Politics and Government in Pakistan, Global Governance, Diplomacy and Research Methodology.
Dr. Qurban’s research interests include Identity Crisis, Public Policy, Extremism, Constitutionalism, Education and Women’s Empowerment. He has also published a number of articles in national journals and has been approved by the HEC for PhD supervision.
