Dr. Anya S. Evmenova

Professor of Special Education

Dr. Evmenova is a professor of special education in the Division for Special Education and disAbility Research at George Mason University. Dr. Evmenova teaches master and doctoral courses in assistive technology, special education, and research methods. She is the recipient of the Teaching Excellence and Online Teaching Excellence awards from George Mason University. Her research interests focus on the use of instructional and assistive technology for cognitive development and academic instruction for students with various abilities and needs, Universal Design for Learning; and high-quality online learning for teacher preparation programs. Dr. Evmenova has received more than $14 million in federal and state grant funding to support her technology research and development. Her current projects focus on designing technology for inclusive writing and computer science instruction; wearable technology application for self-regulation; and online professional development for international teachers. She is the Editor-in-Chief for the Assistive Technology Outcomes and Benefits journal.

Dr. Scot Danforth

Scot Danforth is Professor of Disability Studies and Inclusive Education at Chapman University (USA). His books include Becoming a Great Inclusive Educator, Foundations of Inclusive Education Research (with Phylllis Jones), and The Incomplete Child: An Intellectual History of Learning Disabilities. He is co-founder (with Susan Gabel) of the Disability Studies in Education Special Interest Group of the American Educational Research Association. His current research focuses on the life and activism of disability rights leader Ed Roberts.

Professor Dr. G. Hussein Rassool is Professor of Islamic Psychology and Consultant for Riphah Institute of Clinical and Professional Psychology/Centre for Islamic Psychology, Riphah International University, Pakistan. He is also Director of Studies for the Department of Islamic Psychology, Psychotherapy and Counselling, Al Balagh Academy. He was previously the Director of the Riphah Institute of Clinical and Professional Psychology/Centre for Islamic Psychology, Riphah International University. He is one of the leading academics in the areas of Islamic Psychology and psychotherapy and his research interests include psychosocial and spiritual problems in relation to mental health, psychosocial and spiritual interventions, indigenous psychology, Islamic counselling and psychotherapy, Islamic ethics in psychology. He has published over 120 papers and reviews in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Debbie Kramer-Roy

Occupational Therapy PhD

Dr Debbie Kramer-Roy is an occupational therapist from the Netherlands, who has lived and worked in Pakistan for 9 years and continues to work on the development of children's occupational therapy and inclusive education with Pakistani colleagues. Besides her work in occupational therapy and community-based rehabilitation, Debbie developed the Inclusive Education courses at the Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (1999 to 2006) and was the Principal Investigator of the Collaborative Action Research project "Developing the role of Occupational Therapy in Inclusive Education in Pakistan" (2015-2018)

Dr. Annamarie Hassall, CEO, National Association for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Annamarie has four decades of experience in children’s services to the role, thanks to a successful career that started in children’s residential and social care. She also worked as an early year’s specialist in local government, before moving to an advisory role for the Department for Education (DfE), followed by the private sector, where she delivered national programmes on behalf of government. In her role as Strategic Director of NCB, Annamarie has garnered a wealth of expertise in transformational change, working closely with ministers, DfE, DWP, Public Health England and wider stakeholders. In 2011, she received an MBE for her dedication to working with children and families, including her work with children and young people with SEND

Dr. Ahmad Murad,

Chairman, ILM Trust

 

Dr Ahmed Omar Murad has been appointed as Chairman, ILM Trust. Dr Murad is a visiting scholar at UMT. He obtained his PhD in Biochemistry from Washington State University in 1991. Prior to that, he obtained his Master's from DePaul University, Chicago and Bachelor's degree from the UK. He worked as a research scientist before being drawn to exploring how emerging technologies can be utilized for training and development of children and youth.

Dr Ahmed Murad served as Vice President of Sound Vision, an educational multimedia company until 2012.  He dedicated himself towards developing self-learning software which has been widely used in Islamic education. Dr Ahmed Murad has taught courses on contemporary Islamic issues at American Islamic College in Chicago and at UMT. He also spends his time researching on historical development of Islamic thought and jurisprudence. In addition, he is an active participant in inter-faith dialogue.

Daniel Sobel

Daniel Sobel is a consultant in the field of Inclusion (education), a teacher and mentor at Immanuel College, Bushey, and a SENCO and assistant head at King Solomon High School.[1] He began working part-time as a freelance consultant on inclusion for the Borough of Redbridge, promoting good practice through his articles. In 2014, he established the company Inclusion Expert to continue this work.

As Inclusion Expert’s founder, Sobel has advised the DfE, the EU and governments abroad. Daniel is a public speaker, writes for publications including Headteacher Update and The Guardian, and is the author of several books including Narrowing the Attainment Gap and wellbeing focused Leading on Pastoral Care.[3

Sobel left school with no A Levels and read his first book aged 18. He secured a place on a Master’s course in Education Psychology and went on to take four graduate courses in Psychology and Education, eventually running out of money in the middle of doctoral training.

Sobel moved to full time teaching and became a SENCO. Dismayed by how much of the job was pointless meetings and paperwork, he started designing tools to better support his students. During a stint as Assistant Head he continued to develop simple systems to help teachers manage information and maximize the impact of their interventions. Sobel then left teaching to form Inclusion Expert.

MunazzaGillani

Country Director at Sightsavers International, Pakistan

 

MunazzahGillani is Responsible for the overall leadership of Sightsavers operations in country. This include working with implementing partners, to lead and direct the country team to manage and deliver high quality and cost effective programmes, advocacy with agencies and government, assess programmatic fundraising opportunities and research appropriate baseline data in support of programmatic development.
Responsible for good governance within programme delivery and financial management, ensuring that all systems and controls are in place and followed to allow accurate reporting, cost effectiveness. Enforced compliance to meet funding/donor requirements in order to retain and develop grant and partner relationships. Developed strong relationships with government agencies, donors, international agencies, media and communities to raise the profile of Sightsavers, with the ability to advocate and influence at senior levels. Built an effective country team focused on delivery; recruiting high caliber individuals and supporting them with focused development plans to ensure successful delivery of programme objectives.
