The DITC is a pioneering Department in the study of Islamic Civilization in Pakistan’s private sector. It offers high-quality and research-led teaching that values intellectual diversity and engages the pressing questions of our time. Grounded in the Qur’an and Sunnah, the Department emphasizes critical dialogue on the contemporary relevance of Islamic Civilization and develops evidence-based scholarship to address challenges faced by Muslim societies through peace-oriented, universal, and forward-looking intellectual ethos. We innovate in pedagogy through new teaching frameworks and interdisciplinary methods, while foregrounding the diversity of Islamic thought—classical and modern—and connecting foundational texts with current debates in ethics, law, society, governance, and culture. Our academic activity extends to interfaith and civilizational dialogue, socio-cultural analysis, and community welfare, integrating classroom learning with supervised research, seminars, and public engagement. Through this integrated approach, the DITC nurtures graduates with critical thinking, ethical commitment, and research skills, preparing them for leadership in academia, public policy, and professional fields. In all its work, it seeks to produce scholarship that is rigorous, relevant, and globally conversant—enabling students to contribute confidently and responsibly to the wider intellectual and professional world.
To be a leading center where Islamic thought and civilization are studied, renewed, and communicated as a living, dynamic tradition—shaping scholarship, policy, and society in Pakistan and beyond. Renewing Islamic thought. Shaping civilization.
To cultivate scholar-leaders grounded in the Qur’an and Sunnah who think critically, research rigorously, and teach responsibly. We advance Civilizational Studies through research-led pedagogy, interdisciplinary inquiry, and Seerah-centered engagement—equipping graduates to address contemporary global challenges, foster interfaith and civilizational dialogue, and serve the public good with ethical clarity and academic excellence.
