Prof Dr Francisco A. Marcos Marín
Prof Dr Francisco A. Marcos Marín is a linguist, a professor of Linguistics and Translation at the University of Texas at San Antonio, United States of America. He is also a Corresponding Fellow of Academia Norteamericana de la Lengua Española and Academia Argentina de Letras, and an Honorary Citizen of San Antonio, Texas. Among his several professional achievements, he is a Recipient of the Humboldt Research Award (2004), Academic Director of Instituto Cervantes (1999–2001), Director of the area of Language Industries at the Spanish National Agency for the Development of Programs for the Quincentennial (1990–1992), UNESCO Consultant in Beijing (PR China, 1981), Coordinator of the Reference Corpora of Contemporary Spanish in Argentina and Chile, and of the Oral Corpus of Centro-Peninsular Spanish. Scientific Co-Director of ADMYTE, Digital Archive of Spanish Manuscripts and Texts, Member of several evaluation committees in Argentina, Austria, Egypt, European Union, Germany, Italy, Spain, Tunisia and the United States and in 2015 he was appointed as an Expert of the European Research Council. Moreover, more than thirty printed books and more than three hundred papers and reviews published in specialized journals, collective volumes or Festschriften, in several countries in different languages are to his credit. He has presented more than two hundred communications at international conferences and delivered more than one hundred specialized seminars or workshops in different countries. He has also published two books of poetry and several short stories, and has contributed widely to American, Latin-American and Spanish newspapers, radio and TV broadcasts.
