Introduction
The MS in Security and Strategic Studies program aims at developing knowledge and providing research and learning opportunities in the field of Security and Strategic Studies. The foremost objective of this program is to develop an expert-lead, exciting and supportive learning engagement that is conducive for high quality research and related academic activities, including debates, seminars and lectures. While the core courses are focused on the essential knowledge-base in the discipline of Security and Strategic Studies, the elective courses focus on most relevant extended dimensions and especially the wider policy-making and institutional context of Pakistan. The learning thus imparted will engage in a systematic study of both theoretical and practical aspects of Security and Strategic Studies.
Admission Requirements
A minimum CGPA 2.50 (out of 4.0 in the Semester System) or Second Division with at least 50% marks (in the Annual System) attained after at least sixteen years of education.
Subject Test
Clearing entry test(s) and interview as per requirement of HEC and UMT will be mandatory. A subject test conducted by the National Testing Service (NTS) or ETS, USA in the area of specialization chosen at the MS level must be cleared prior to admission in the MS Security and Strategic Studies program.
a. In the case of GAT Subject test (http://www.nts.org.pk/GAT/GATSubject.asp) a
minimum of 60% marks is required to pass the test.
b. In the case of GRE subject test, a minimum 60% Percentile score will be acceptable.
c. In case of non- availability of NTS/ETS subject test, the department will conduct the admission test of the candidate (U-GAT TEST).
d. Interview at the Departmental Graduate Committee of Political Science Dept. (UMT).
