M.Phil International Relations

Introduction

MPhil International Relations is a two-year degree program that equips students with a critical ability to analyze global politics' intricacies and progressions. This program offers a comprehensive insight into international relations by keeping a focus on its historical origins and evolution specifically in the 20th and 21st centuries.

Furthermore, it elaborates on the key concepts, major theoretical assumptions, main actors and institutions, the global architecture of power, globalization, statecraft, diplomacy, foreign policy, political economy, and international security. Thus, an MPhil in International Relations provides a holistic insight into the discipline's essential subfields and inculcates rigorous research-based conceptual perspectives. This program aims to equip and train the students with the knowledge and expertise required for further advanced levels of studies and research.

Career Prospects

Graduates with this degree are able to pursue careers as civil servants, diplomatic o?cers, intelligence analysts, policy o?cers, international aid/development workers, and in other governmental and non-governmental sectors.

Curriculum Structure

A minimum of 30 credit hours of work is required to complete M.Phil. International Relations program. These 30 credit hours include 24 credit hours of coursework and 6 credit hours of thesis. Out of 24 credit hours of coursework, 15 credit hours must be earned through 5 core courses. The rest of the 9 credit hours can be completed by taking 3 elective courses.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate must fulfill the minimum criteria of HEC for admission in MPhil program. A minimum CGPA 2.0 (out of 4.0 in the Semester System) or 50% marks (in the Annual System) attained after at least sixteen years of education (Master’s or four-year BS degree).
  • GAT(General)/ UMT Graduate Admission Test (at least 50%)
  • Admission Interview will be conducted by the graduate committee of the department passed by at least 50% marks.
  • No third division in the entire academic career
