Program Vision

The vision of the 4-years undergraduate Special Needs Education Program is to facilitate its participants with and without disabilities for the development of inclusive, supportive, effective, and culturally responsive learning friendly contextual conditions.

Program Mission

The mission of the BS SNED is to prepare professionals to provide the most appropriate learning support to children with special needs.  Through rigorous academic and practical training, the program aims to enhance the social, emotional, and cognitive development of individuals with special needs, promoting their full participation in society.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

Four years after graduating, the graduates of the program should be characterized by the following

Features aligned with; i) expertise in the field with deep understanding of inclusion, diversity and equity, ii) advocacy and ethical commitments, iii) learning engagement and lifelong learning, iv) CPD.

1. 1.      Equipped with knowledge, skills, ethics, expertise to work for differently abled students
2. 2.      Effectively analyze human diversity, educational policies and right based education by advocating and reflecting ethical commitments
3. 3.      Incorporate and promote the application of evidence-based practices to the service of individuals having special needs. 
4. 4.      Work as special educationists to deal with educational and emotional well-being of persons with special needs, their families and community at larger scale.
5. 5.      Incorporate and apply acquired and new knowledge in the field of special education through research based theory and practice with collaborative and team efforts for community engagement and CBR

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

After successful completion of the program, the graduates will be able to:

1. After the successful completion of four years BS SNED degree program, students shall be able to reflect:

i)                    subject command,

ii)                   ii) grasp on differentiated instructions for the provision of equal and equitable education,

iii)                  iii) legal and ethical consideration while compiling and communicating reports and documents,

iv)                  iv) technically sound preparation of documents, like lesson plans, individualized educational plans by adapting a multidiscipline approach,

v)                   v) Continuous Professional Development and Code of   

How PEOs and PLOs are aligned with Visions and Missions

All PEOs and PLOs are aligned with UMT, School and Dept. Visions and missions as both PEOs and PLOs encompass development of leadership skills, critical & creative thinking, problem solving skills, equity, equality, trusteeship, professional ethics, meeting local & global standards, ICT, taking initiative and social service among participants.
