Overview Core Courses

Introduction

The program focuses on extending the knowledge and research expertise of students through scientific inquiry. It is designed for individuals who have the intellectual capacity for advanced research and who wish to contribute to future development of Education as a discipline. To accomplish this objective the program offers challenging curricula, a variety of teaching-learning methodologies and a supportive academic environment. The large pool of in-house PhDs in various Schools of UMT, including the School of Social Sciences and Humanities provides interdisciplinary discussion in the areas of common interest, whilst widening the learning horizons of the students.

Program Vision

The vision of the 2-years MPhil Education Program is to facilitate its participants to explore innovative ways of learning and putting the same into world of work for the leadership in the field.

Program Mission

Program mission is to equip the future leaders to translate the theoretical knowledge into practical realities. The alumni will not only act as the ambassadors to their alma mater rather they would be the consultants, planners, developers and implementers in the positions where they fit and work.

 

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

After completion of the program:

  • Graduates will demonstrate deep understanding and critical knowledge of educational theories, research methodologies, and current trends to contribute meaningfully to academic, policy, and practice-based discourses in education.
  • Graduates will design, conduct, and disseminate high-quality educational research that addresses contemporary issues, supports innovation, and informs evidence-based decision-making in various educational settings.
  • · Graduates will assume leadership roles in academic institutions, educational organizations, or policy-making bodies, applying ethical standards, inclusive practices, and reflective decision-making to improve teaching and learning environments.
  • Graduates will continuously engage in professional development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and global educational dialogue to respond to emerging educational challenges and promote sustainable development goals (SDGs) in education.

 

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

After successful completion of the program, the graduates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of key concepts, theories, and philosophies in education and their application to diverse educational contexts.
  • Design, conduct, and critically evaluate qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method research to address educational problems and contribute to academic literature.
  • Apply advanced analytical and reflective thinking to evaluate educational policies, practices, and innovations, and propose evidence-based solutions.
  • Effectively communicate complex educational ideas, research findings, and professional insights through oral presentations and scholarly writing.
  • Uphold high ethical standards and promote equity, inclusion, and social justice in educational research and practice.
  • Exhibit leadership skills in educational settings and engage in interdisciplinary and cross-cultural collaboration to enhance learning and institutional effectiveness.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional growth, academic inquiry, and responsiveness to emerging trends in education.

How PEOs and PLOs are aligned with Visions and Missions

All PEOs and PLOs are aligned with UMT, School and Dept. Visions and missions as both PEOs and PLOs encompass development of leadership skills, critical & creative thinking, problem solving skills, equity, equality, meeting local & global standards, taking initiative and social service among participants.

Admission Criteria

  • Master degree in Education from HEC recognized a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00
  • GRE type conducted by NTS/University
