MA Special Education

Overview Core Courses


MA Special Education is a new program that has been launched at UMT to prepare teachers to instruct children with special needs. The curriculum and instructional methodology meet international standards. The participants will be able to pursue higher studies anywhere in the world after completing this program. The program is prepared in line with the international movement for inclusive education. It enables students to understand general principles and practices in the education of students with special needs and acquire specialist knowledge and skills in any one area of specialization. The areas of specialization offered are hearing impairment, intellectual impairment and visual impairment. The program is a blend of theory and practice. The option of internship is available for those who intend to join teaching as profession.

Entrance Requirement

Graduation with minimum 45% marks

Admission Criteria

All applications are evaluated on the basis of merit as determined by the applicant's previous academic record and performance in the Interview according to the following weightage.

  • O-Levels/Matriculation marks: 20%
  • A-Levels/Intermediate marks: 20%
  • Graduation marks: 30%
  • Interview: 30%

Additional 5 points are awarded to master’s degree holders in school subjects.
