World Population Day 2025

Department of Sociology UMT Faculty & Students Participates in World Population Day 2025 Event Organized by Population Welfare Department, Punjab.
On July 11, 2025, the Department of Sociology faculty & Students participated in an official event organized by the Directorate General Population Welfare, Punjab, held at Faletti’s Hotel, Lahore, to commemorate World Population Day 2025. The global theme for this year was “Empowering young people to create the families they want in a fair and hopeful world.” The event was organized in collaboration with development partners of the Population Welfare Department, including The Challenge Initiative (TCI), GSM, UNFPA, and Population Council. Keynote addresses were delivered by the Minister for Health and Population, the Secretary for Health and Population, the Director General of Population Welfare, and representatives from partnering organizations. The seasoned academic Prof. Muhammad Nizamuddin also addressed the audience.

The Department of Sociology, SSSH, UMT successfully organized a thought-provoking seminar on Anti-Harassment awareness.
Led by our dedicated focal person of SSSH & COD Dr. Naveeda Noreen, the session featured an empowering talk by Ms. Zohra Hotiana, Advocate High Court.

Youth Conference

The Department of Sociology at the University of Management and Technology successfully organized a conference titled "Youth Conference under Chief Minister Population Management and Family Planning Program". The event featured Ms. Saman Rai, Director General, as the Chief Guest and Mr. Salman Rehman from the Health and Population Department as the Keynote Speaker.
Ms. Naveeda Noreen, Chairman Department of Sociology, extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests, while Ms. Maryam Shaukat efficiently moderated the proceedings.
The conference provided a valuable platform for discussion and knowledge sharing on population management and family planning, highlighting the importance of youth engagement in these critical areas.
The Department of Sociology is commended for its efforts in hosting this significant event, fostering dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders.

Through insightful presentations and engaging conversations, participants gained a deeper understanding of mental health issues and the role they can play in supporting one another.
