The Department of Sociology, UMT aspires to be the leading teaching and research institute in the field of Sociology, gender studies and social work at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We aim to help students become informed, well-rounded, and successful citizens of the society. We hope that our students will become tomorrow's leaders in socio-economic development, working to create a more innovative, inclusive, just, and sustainable future.
Mission
The mission of the Department of Sociology is to promote scientific understandings of social life through teaching and research. We foster rich sociological imaginations and critical thinking on gender issues in our students. We provide rigorous training in core disciplinary research methods and theories, as well as a variety of educational experiences.
