Dr Khurram Shahzad Siddiqui is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations, School of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSS&H). Before joining the University of Management and Technology, Dr Khurram worked with the UN. He is a graduate of the prestigious Command & Staff College (C&SC). He earned his doctorate from the School of Politics & International Relations, University of Nottingham, UK, in October 2020. During his doctoral studies, he won the Charles Wallace Trust financial award based on academic excellence in the social sciences. Apart from a PhD, he holds Master degrees in International Relations (MA) and Art & Science of Warfare (MSc) from the National Defence University (NDU). He also worked as a Research Assistant, for three years, at the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), Stockholm, Sweden.

Dr Khurram possesses a good experience of teaching several modules of politics, international relations and military, security and strategic studies to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the UK and various military institutions in Pakistan.

He has vast experience of teaching, planning and participating/executing the counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations nationally and internationally. He served as a peacekeeper ("blue-helmet") at the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC/MONUSCO) from 2010 to 11. As the UN training task force commander, he planned and imparted training to the Forces armées de la république démocratique du Congo (FARDC).

Dr Khurram was invited several times to deliver lectures at the Austrian Study Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution (ASPR), Vienna and the University of Vienna. Dr Khurram also presented his research at various international conferences in the UK, Europe and the US. He is an active member of various international organisations and professional associations. Dr Khurram is an academic and a practitioner of Politics, International Relations and Peace and Security Studies, which is a unique blend of qualification and professional experience.
